milk

Posted by bradandsara on July 10, 2008

so, to know me is to know i am an extremely picky eater. oh yes. this has given many opportunities for tormenting over the course of my life. why is it that i ALWAYS know when people are drinking a tall glass of milk? because i think people like to see my so gross face and laugh at me.

i blame my parents for this…as they catered to my picky tendencies, as well as my brother’s. i mean, seriously. my mom had to buy butter and margarine because danny likes butter and i like margarine and to this day cannot cross over to either. there, its not my fault.

anyways, like i mentioned before…milk = gross. i’ve always felt this way, and always do. i have an intense gag reflex when milk touches my tongue. its just the way it is. i choose to get my daily dose of dairy throught different avenues, such as cheese or yogurt or even better, ice cream. and yes, i do have that all reasoned out in my head as correct. don’t argue with that. well, milk is something most people like. a lot of the people in my life would choose a glass of milk as a drink. :blah: so, its kind of necessary to keep it in the house. plus, i do enjoy a bowl of life cereal a lot of mornings. but with only the amount of milk necessary to coat the squares. i usually end up throwing a lot of milk away every week, so i try to buy the smallest quantity as possible with each grocery trip.

flash back to june 27. had to run to the store to get some key ingredients for something i was making for a bbq. i decide to capitalize on the trip to the grocery store and get some items i need around the house. i pick up bagels, fruit, cheese, turkey, etc…and milk. i was really excited to see that the date on the milk was july 12. that would provide me with much time to consume milk and maybe not have to throw as much away. lets jump ahead to last night, july 8. i am trying to think of something fast to make for dinner so i decide to make this pasta casserole thing that is quick and easy and provides with leftovers for lunches. GREAT. it also needs milk. NO PROBLEM. mine is good till july 12. so i get all my stuff out and start boiling water for pasta. well, just as i’m almost ready to drain the pasta, i decide to measure out the milk in a measuring cup. i open it up (first time to use this particular container) and tip it to pour it over. NOTHING COMES OUT. ok, hmmm, last time i checked there isn’t a safety seal on milk…just the lid. so i take a peek as i tip it over to pour it and WHAT THE HECK?!?! IT LOOKS LIKE I’M TRYING TO POUR GLUE.

those of you that know me, know the face i was making at that moment…and the face i’m making as i type this story. SICK. WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN TO ME? i mean, i have milk issues anyways…but to have it be of a glue consistency?! oh my lordy. what have i done to deserve this?

needless to say, that thing went into the trash and i had noodles with margarine and parm cheese for dinner.

the end.

Sara – I hate milk too. I almost gagged reading your story. So so gross. Glad to have this in common with you. Anytime you are up for ice cream, I’m game. :)
