so we got ourselves a new president last night! finally, the commercials interrupting my tv and radio time are gone. praise the lord!
this morning as i woke up and got ready, i could help but feel like i just went up a notch in terms of my importance. that all of us did. last night, we all witnessed history. for our parents’ generation, last night was a chapter of their story that includes growing up during the days of martin luther king jr. for people of our generation, last night was a chapter of our story that includes remembering our voices can be heard when we do things such as vote or engage in conversations about what we really do dream of for our country. for the next generation, who knows….but their story will be great because of what happened last night.
regardless of how you feel about the candidates, we were all a part of history last night. and that is what we should focus on, for right now. come january, we’ll settle down to the business of passing laws and legislation, but for today, lets all remember that we changed the course of our country. and that while it might be 40 years later and after we have left this life, change is always worth fighting for.
today, i am proud that i will be able to tell my children and grandchildren that i was alive and watched the results come in on november 4, 2008…when america elected their first black president. and honestly, i would have felt the same way, had the results gone to the republicans. maybe even more so since i am a woman…who knows. we all knew going into last night, history would be made, either way. and i was excited and will continue to be excited that all of us, regardless of which box we filled, we all collectively a part of something bigger than ourselves.
i know hardly anyone reads this blog…but i still had to put it out there.

when i become all sentimental around new years this year, and ponder what 2008’s signifigance was and will forever be, many things will jump out at me. at the top of that list? concerts. ah, i have returned to my one true love. i discovered how much i fall in love every time i attend a concert when i was a freshman in college. sure, i had been to many a concert when i was younger (hello, amy grant? newsboys and dc talk? hollllla!) but it wasn’t until then that i really realized i was born to go to concerts! i spent a good chunk of my “spending money” on concert tickets when i was at obu. oh and gas money to go to the concerts. yes, we traveled to dallas, wichita, kansas city, tulsa, norman, and okc…just to see our latest faves. ahhh, it was a good life.
my concert attendance kind of dropped off after college, i’m sad to say. my concert buddies left me when we all graduated and split up to live all over the US. oh sad day. i mean, i still busted my butt to see tim mcgraw twice, faith hill once, clay aiken (yeah!!!!), U2, kings of leon all after college, to name a few. but this year took the cake. let me summarize.
started off the year with some keith and carrie. oh wow. third time seeing keith and by far the best. carrie…how i loved you even though your sound techs should be fired.
a few weeks later, kanye-rihanna-nerd-lupe. that was….interesting. as brad so eloquently wrote way back in the days of his blogging, kanye is a good performer. but he is a bit full of himself. but…it was still quite the experience.
jump forward to september, when some of us ventured to the walnut room to see the one and only tyrone wells. so good. jason reeves was amazing as well, although he is kinda short.
just monday, i gathered with a few thousand of my bffs and enjoyed the sweet melodies of mr jason mraz. oh he was just amazing.
now, those are some pretty stand out concerts. yeah. a girl could be very happy with that lineup in her life. but…people. we are saving the best for last. ah yes.
three weeks from this friday, i will venture down to the pepsi center and meet the man that can be thanked for many an emo moment in this girl’s life. mr chris martin and his band: coldplay.
to say i’m excited is an understatement. seriously. i love coldplay. not as much as some people i know…and am related to….but wow, i’m so pumped to experience them live.
i highly recommend concerts. they are worth every single convience fee penny paid. and if you ever need someone to go with you, give me a ring…i probably will jump right on board.

yEa!
so one of my nearest and dearest broke some sad news to me this week. mr. jt will no longer be performing sexy back in concert. boo. good thing i have the live at madison square garden dvd and can cue it up whenever my heart needs a good dose of jt. oh yeah!
since brad never writes here and i am full of things to say but short on time…i will leave you with a picture of my trendy try of the day…the side pony in a business setting. because i’m 13 year old-myspace obsessed girl in a 26 year old’s body. heck yes. some, after seeing this pic, might wonder if i am picking up the slack left by jt when he decided not to perform sexy back in concert any more. i will leave the final decision up to you.
yes, that is my diploma for being an excel class graduate. you have questions? i have answers. call me!

yesterday…my heart became one step closer to being whole. my most fave place to eat is open and within driving distance. when i drove by…my heart almost exploded and i immediately started making phone calls and sending out texts to let people know. and then i went and had a cocktail. i’m already on a first name basis with the manager. oh yeah.
